Quilan “Cue” Arnold

Quilan “Cue” Arnold is an Afro-Panamanian-American dancer, choreographer, teacher, producer, and podcaster who will be joining us for Brockport Summer Dance 2020!

Quilan mostly represents hip-hop dance and is also a dedicated guest to club and street dance communities in New York City. He has an incredible background in Afro-American culture/philosophy and learns from social dances. Some of Quilan’s teachings are Hip-hop Groove Foundation/Technique, African-American/Hip Hop Social Dance History, and Hip-hop/Street Dance Pedagogy. All of his training has formed the way he teaches and creates. He received an MFA in Dance at The Ohio State University and a BA from Penn State University.

As a mover, he has taken part in many different companies like Abby Z and the New Utility in New York, Camille A. Brown and Dancers in New York, Enzo Celli Vivo Ballet in New York, and Rennie Harris Puremovement in Pennsylvania. Quilan is also one of the co-founders of a street dance podcast, “The Good Foot". This is an education platform for people who are interested in hearing honest conversations about the culture within the street dance community. He is also the executive director of a street dance documentary called “Build’N Shop".

“I am a guide for other guests who partake in hip-hop/street/club dance culture and want to know/engage more with the communities."-Quilan “Cue” Arnold

Quilan suggests all students taking his class during Brockport Summer Dance to bring water, a writing utensil and notebook, a slick floor, and sneakers (bare feet work too). He hopes for us to come out of this workshop experience inspired by fresh perspectives on how to achieve freedom for humanity in relation to dance.
