Some words from Cas on why they chose this non-for-profit...
MaineTransNet is a community organization run by and for transgender folx in my home state of Maine. The organization is led by elected members from groups typically underrepresented in the Maine trans community, including BIPOC, youth, elders, disabled and neurodivergent folx, those who are currently experiencing or have previously experienced homelessness, and those living in rural communities. As the only trans-specific organization in the state, they work to create supportive community spaces for transgender Mainers through peer support groups, advocacy efforts, and cultural competency trainings for healthcare workers, educators, and other social service providers. Donations assist with community and educational programming as well as name and gender marker changes for low income trans folx in Maine.
