Cas (they/them) will be teaching film classes as a part of Brockport Summer Dance this year and is a multimedia dance artist who received their MFA from the College at Brockport in 2018. Prior to coming to Brockport, Burns attended Tufts University for their undergraduate education, earning a degree in Math in addition to a minor in dance, where the interest in camera for dance initially sparked. Being educated about dance film has helped Cas use these skills to integrate technology and choreography, with this particularly evident in the use of video editing. Out of this workshop experience, Cas is excited to share something different with students, especially since dance camera is not always focused on as a part of choreography. The pandemic has shifted how we are going to make work and Cas is excited to see how dance on camera can continue to be influential in choreography as the circumstances of the world continuously change.
