The Department of Dance is beyond THRILLED to welcome Nicolette Ferguson back, again! Most recently, Nicky completed her MFA in Dance from SUNY Brockport (May 2020) - her research combines her lived and embodied experiences with critical theoretical frames, "contributing to the intertextual exchange that lives within us and around us..." That embodied perspective includes an illustrious 21-year career as a principal performer for Garth Fagan Dance here in Rochester, NY! PLUS her expertise as a recently certified yoga instructor, a Zumba instructor, a teacher, a wife, and a mom, just to name a few!
What a treat, then, that we will benefit from Nicky's expertise in 10 days of daily Fagan Technique classes as well as the creation of a choreographic work for participants to dig in to the unique "fusion of the earthiness of modern dance, the torso-centered isolations of Afro-
Caribbean dance, the speed and precision of ballet and the rule-breaking experimentation of postmodern." Come meet this warrior of art, of equity, of empowerment, and of physical ferocity!
